October 2019 – Welfare Benefits

Background

On behalf of our client, LassiterWare invites admitted insurance carriers to bid on the welfare benefits package with an effective date of January 1, 2020. The client is a large non-profit based in Jacksonville, Florida and serves more than 50,000 children and families to 14 counties in Northeast and Central Florida. They have served young children and their families for more than 50 years. It is important to note that the counties include: Lake, Sumter, Marion, Levy, Citrus Dixie, Levy Alachua, Putnam, Bradford, Clay, Baker, Nassau, and Duval.

Purpose

The purpose of this RFP is to secure proposals from Qualified, Admitted insurance carriers with experience in the non-profit insurance industry to provide comprehensive employee benefits coverage to our client. The group has 568 eligible employees and represents $3,100,000 in benefits spend. Key areas of concern are: Network availability, client service, rates, and cost control strategies.

Insurance Summary

The carrier must demonstrate the highest level of ability in providing the following lines of coverages:
• Group Medical Insurance
• Dental Insurance
• Vision Insurance
• Basic Life
• Basic AD&D
• Basic Long Term Disability
• Voluntary Short Term Disability
• Voluntary Employee Life
• Voluntary Spouse Life
• Voluntary Child Life
• Voluntary Group Hospital Confinement
• Voluntary Critical Care
• Voluntary Accident

Coverage Date

The current plan agreements expire on December 31, 2019.

Calendar of Events

Unless otherwise revised by a subsequent addendum to this solicitation, the dates and times by which stated
actions shall be taken or completed are listed below. If the client determines, in its sole discretion, that it is
necessary to change any of these dates and times, it will issue an email to all participants defining the new
time line. It is the carrier’s responsibility to comply with these timeframes.

Notice of RFP issued and advertised: October 23, 2019

Last day for participating firms to request bid package: October 31, 2019

Bid package released: October 31, 2019 to all qualified carriers

Written proposals due to LassiterWare: November 5, 2019

Client consulting team meets and discusses proposals, and Negotiations (if necessary) on or before: November 15, 2019
